Constructed from 1703 to 1792 during the Qing Dynasty, the Mountain Resort was the exclusive place where the emperors and royal members spent summer. Compared with Forbidden City, it is characterized by simplicity and elegance, where the various styles of palaces are integrated into the surrounding lakes, mountains, and woods harmoniously.
