Hangzhou

With a history of 8000 years, Hangzhou is one of the central cities of the Yangtze River Delta. It's one of the seven ancient capitals of China... and West Lake, a world-famous cultural heritage location, contributes to the city’s landscape. As they always say: “In heaven there is paradise, on earth there’s Hangzhou,” which makes the city even more fascinating.

During the 13th century, an Italian traveler named Marco Polo came to Hangzhou and made an observation that would become well-known throughout the ages: “This place,” he said, “is the most luxurious and heavenly city in the world.”

Today, Hangzhou deserves even greater praise. It now covers 3,068 square kilometers with an average of over 15 square meters of green area per person. Hangzhou has been recognized by the UN as an “international garden city” while other titles such as “the happiest city in China” “the safest city in China” “the best tourist city in China” continue to make its 8.7 million citizens proud. The world's largest travel site “TripAdvisor” formally granted the Traveler's Choice 2013 "Top 10 Destinations of China" award to the city of Hangzhou. West Lake, the world cultural heritage site set in the center, forms a harmonious balance between city and scenery. And West Lake was listed one of 12 superb sunset spots around the world by CNN, and listed one of the best places for moon-gazing in China by China Central Television.

The story of LiangZhu – also known as the Butterfly Lovers - is a famous Chinese love story, which is often regarded as the eastern version of Romeo and Juliet. It is allegedly the only world-famous traditional Chinese story that can move men to tears, and it's said to have been set in Hangzhou.
