Huaxi National Wetland Park

Set up in 2009 upon the approval by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Huaxi National Wetland Park is the first national wetland park in the southwest of China. The Park is 12 kilometers from the downtown area of Guiyang, in the neighborhood of Qingyan Ancient Town and Tianhetan Scenic Area. The river meanders gently with over 20 bends along its banks dotted with marshes. In the scenic area of the park surrounded with mountains, fishes swim in and egrets skim over the meandering river dotted with islets, shoals and shallows of various shapes. Currently there are over 20 major scenic spots and about 100 minor spots, including, Yu Huan Yao Bi (Green Pool with Lotus), Wa Gu Hua Tian (Meadow with Croaking Frogs), Yue Tan Tian Qu (Beautiful Crescent Lake), Xi Shan Meiying (Stream Mirroring Charming Mountains and Bridges), Shui Xiang Liu Yun (Waterside Bouyei Villages), Cong Long Cai Di (Garden of Luxuriant Flowers), Hua Pu Guo Xiang (Garden and Orchard), Xi Bian Wen Nong(Brookside Farmhouses), Meng Li Tian Yuan (Dreamlike Fields). Integrating landscapes of mountains, waters, biodiversity and cultural heritage, the park exhibits a beautiful picture of marshes, river beaches, flowers, gardens, egrets, ancient trees, dwellings and villages.
